The comforter is soft not scratchy, still its a bit noisy, not loud enough to wake this light-sleeper. The border on the comforter is like a soft nylon rope I assume this helps keep the feathers inside. The product does not look like the picture shown, it has smaller squares with a stripped look. In Oregon our summer days can be 103 and nights as cool as 63, this is no problem for me this comforter does well to keep me cool and comfortable.
