This soft, supple 160-gram flannel sham is the perfect accessory to Pinzon's flannel sheets and duvets. Expertly made in Portugal with 160 grams of cotton per square meter, the fabric is lightly brushed to give it the soft, warm flannel texture and is pre-washed for durability. For superior patterning on both sides, the fabric begins with yarn-dyed cotton that is woven into a wide array of colorful plaids. The standard sham measures 20 by 26 inches and has an envelope closure. Easy to care for, the sham can be washed and dried at home. Mix and match various colors and patterns from Pinzon's flannel, yarn-dyed flannel, and velvet bedding for a layered look with an ultra-soft feel.
Fabric Definition Flannel: Flannel fabrics are noted for their fuzzy softness, warmth, and durability, and they can be dyed or printed. Thought to have been popularized in Wales in the 17th century, flannel was an all-wool fabric made of woolen or worsted yarns, with a brushed surface and a soft napped finish obscuring its weave. Flannel may be plain woven or twill woven and, today, most flannel fabrics are made of cotton fibers or synthetic rayon fibers that are slightly napped on both sides to resemble the old woolen or worsted yarn weaves. A wide range of flannel weights and textures is available. The fabric weight and quality of the napping affect the warmth and softness of the fabric. Many people prefer flannel bedding during the cold, winter months, but some flannel weights are appropriate in breatheability and comfort all year long.
History of the Region Portugal's major textile factories are located in Guimaraes. Guimaraes is known as the "cradle" or "birth city" of Portugal, since it is home to the castle of Portugal's first king. As one of the country's most historic cities with well-preserved monuments, it is a popular tourist attraction. Among other sites to see are two squares with outdoor cafes and balconied houses, called Praça de Santiago and Largo da Oliveira. At Largo da Oliveira are the old Town Hall and the Church of Nossa Senhora da Oliveira, with a Gothic shrine erected in 1340 standing before it. There are many legends about its origins, but a popular story says it marks the spot where Wamba, elected king of the Visigoths, refused his title and drove a pole into the ground swearing that he would not reign until it blossomed, and it sprouted immediately. Guimaraes hosts an annual 3-day festival of medieval art and costume in the first week of August, which dates from the middle of the 15th century and includes a torchlight procession and a medieval parade. Not only renowned for textiles and historical sites, Guimaraes is in the heart of the "Vinho Verde" region, so called for its locally produced fresh, young "green wines."

Pinzon 160-Gram Yarn-Dyed Flannel Standard Sham, Blue Plaid Review

Pinzon 160-Gram Yarn-Dyed Flannel Standard Sham, Blue Plaid

Bought two of these shams and the matching duvet cover. Didn't even realize that this was an Amazon label. Excellent quality, feel, materials. The weight is heavy, the construction is very nice, the flaps to cover the back have a generous overlap. The colors are right on to the images. I would certainly buy another set if needed. I finally figured out that a sham that uses standard sizes is just that, use a standard pillow; strange but no one will say that. I bought therma pillows that we really too tall to sleep on comfortably but they make perfect sham fillers, nice, fat and resilient. They've gone through 5 washes in an front-loading HE washer and the colors are as good as ever.

Tommy Hilfiger Standard Sham, All American Denim Collection Review

Tommy Hilfiger Standard Sham, All American Denim Collection

Love the denim shams. They are great for any change of bedspreads, comforters, etc. The design is great, love the stitching. The only thing I might change would be the weight of the denim. These do require ironing after washing...I really don't like ironing. :)

Pinzon Hotel Banded 100-Percent Egyptian Cotton Sateen Sham Review

Pinzon Hotel Banded 100-Percent Egyptian Cotton Sateen Sham
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this sham at a reasonable price while Amazon lowered their price. It looks great with the bed sheet/duvet ensemble. My only complaint about this is the cost for 1 sham. If you choose to purchase this sham make sure you pay for two because there are no shams in the duvet cover and there is only 1 sham per package. This set can become costly. I have no complaints about the sham just the way Amazon sells it and this should be packaged into the duvet cover, making it easier for everyone. Otherwise, it feels great, smooth to the touch and again...looks great with the ensemble.

Accent pillows are to the bed what toppings are to cheese pizza, transforming the ordinary into something flavorful and enticing. For a sophisticated bed, add one of these European pillow shams from Pinzon's Hotel Banded bedding collection. Modeled on the linens of luxury hotels, the sham was crafted in Portugal in 300-thread-count Egyptian cotton for strength and softness. A four-over sateen weave enhances the cotton's softness and gives the sham luster. A solid colored square adorns the center of the sham, while a 3-inch triple banded flange in the selected color and white borders the sham's perimeter. Offered in five colors, the sham compliments a range of separately purchased Hotel Banded sheets, duvets, bed skirts, or other sizes of shams. A side slit enables pillow removal and insertion. For the best care, machine wash the sham in cool water and dry using a low-to-medium heat setting. This European sham measures 26 by 26 inches, plus the 3-inch flange.

The pattern on these shams are beautiful, but they fit a Euro pillow (26 inches by 26 inches) very loosely and did not look right once over the pillow. I returned these for this reason.

Pinzon Fleur Jacquard 20-Inch Square Pillow Cover, French Blue/Chocolate

These pillow cases match the Pinzon Fleur Jacquard bedset nicely, but wrinkle easily and look messy on the bed. It would also be nicer if the material was a bit thicker; it is the thickness of a bedsheet or a regular pillowcase.

Pinzon Diamond Matelasse Sham Review

Pinzon Diamond Matelasse Sham
Average Reviews:

All three products are very good. They look crisp and well-tailored.The color is accurately described. The silver-gray is a platinum.
Since I have not had them that long, I don't know how they will hold-up. The one draw-back is that they have to be dry-cleaned instead of machine-washed,and they are not 100% cotton, but they are an excellent value in comparison to similar looking products.

Beautifully outfit an accent pillow for bed-top display and lounging comfort with a Diamond Matelasse sham from Pinzon. Available in Standard, King, and European sizes, the sham was crafted for Pinzon by Piubelle, a Guimaraes, Portugal-based leader in home textiles. The sham's construction features 50-percent cotton, 50-percent polypropylene fabric, with the polypropylene affording a bit of stretch for slightly different sized pillows. Quilted with a diamond pattern that translates with ease from classic to contemporary bedroom décor, the sham's texture engages the eye while maintaining enough softness to sleep on. A side slit enables pillow insertion and removal, and a 3-inch flange borders the sham for an additional decorative touch. To preserve the sham's beauty, dry clean only. Pinzon offers the sham in four different colors; matching and coordinating Diamond Matelasse coverlets and Boudoir pillow covers are available for separate purchase. This King sham measures 20 by 36 inches, plus the 3-inch flange.

Pinzon Fleur Jacquard Woven 18" Square Pillow Cover Review

Pinzon Fleur Jacquard Woven 18 Square Pillow Cover
Average Reviews:

After ordering these pillow covers online, I went to Michaels to get inserts. Naturally, I purchased 18 inch inserts. When the pillow covers came in, I discovered that the 18 inch were WAY too small and had to go back for the 20, which are of course, much more expensive (unless you get them at Ikea, which I ended up doing). HOWEVER, they are beautiful, and I love them!

Pinzon's Fleur Jacquard accent pillow cover is a silky soft and elegant accessory to the collection. Boasting a sophisticated floral jacquard pattern, the cover is expertly sewn in Portugal from pure, Egyptian cotton in a sateen weave. It has a positive/negative reverse and is finished with solid cream piping all around. The 18-inch square cover accessorizes marvelously with other striped and floral pieces from the Fleur Jacquard collection, or for a layered look, it will also mix beautifully with Pinzon's Diamond Matelasse and Hotel Banded bedding. The cover is offered in two colors and is safe to clean at home in the washer and dryer. It has a side slit opening for easy pillow insertion and removal.
Fabric Definitions Egyptian Cotton: Egyptian cotton is used to make some of the highest quality linens in the world, including sumptuously soft bath and bed linens. Egyptian cotton is grown to produce a longer staple, or fiber, than generic cotton, and the longer and finer a cotton staple is, the better able it is to be spun into finer count yarns, which in turn can be knitted or woven into soft, fine, and luxurious fabrics. The staple length in Egyptian cotton averages 1-1/8 to 1-1/2 inches, but can reach over 2-1/4 inches, which is twice the size of a generic cotton fiber. Products which highlight construction of Egyptian cotton are usually referring to the extra-long-staple cotton produced largely in the Nile River Valley. The humidity and rich soil around the Nile delta produce especially long cotton fibers, which are fine and vary from a light cream to dark tan color. Egyptian cotton is strong, durable and, if cared for properly, will be long lasting.
Sateen: Sateen fabric has a supremely soft, satin-like finish resulting from a four-over-one thread weave. Standard weaves, like percale, use a one-over, one-under stitch. The four-over weave puts more threads nearer the surface, resulting in a softer, warmer surface. Sateen fabrics are most often made of mercerized cotton, but can be made of other fabrics, including cotton blends, polyester, and rayon. Mercerized threads give sateen fabrics a higher luster. Mercerization, named for process-creator John Mercer, involves treating threads with a cold concentrated sodium hydroxide solution. Mercerization also increases strength, dyeability, and resistance to mildew, as well as reduces lint. Sateens can be produced in light and heavy weights, and are ideal for bedding.
History of the Textile Mill Piubelle, founded in 1981, is one of the most versatile Portuguese home textiles companies, with thousands of existing designs in its collection, including yarn dyes, prints, embroideries, and jacquards. A very efficient design team keeps abreast of trends and stays on the lookout for something new. Innovation is continuous. New threads, fabrics, and colors are frequently tested and analyzed. New products are constantly introduced. The product lines include a wide range of home linens, such as sheet sets, duvet covers, quilted and woven bedspreads, bath sets and bath robes, throws, tablecloths, and bath rugs. Piubelle always uses the best raw materials in its production stages. Almost all its products are produced with Egyptian cotton and, where requested, there is a label certifying the origin of the cotton.
